Mahjong Solitaire Strategy
Open tall stacks first
Tall stacks hide the most information. When you can choose between equal pairs, prefer the move that exposes a covered tile or opens a long blocked row.
Do not burn scarce pairs
If three or four matching tiles are visible, choose the pair that frees the most future movement. Removing the wrong two copies can trap the remaining pair.
Keep lanes alive
Long horizontal rows can lock many tiles. Moves that open a side lane are often stronger than moves that only remove two isolated open tiles.
Use hints as confirmation
A hint is useful for spotting a missed pair, but it does not always choose the best strategic pair. Treat hints as information, then decide whether the move improves the board.
