Mahjong Solitaire Rules

The objective of Mahjong Solitaire is to remove every tile from the layout by matching open pairs. The game is won when the board is empty.

A tile is open when no tile overlaps it from above and at least one long side is free. If another tile touches both the left and right side, the tile is blocked.

Most tiles match only identical tiles: bamboo with the same bamboo number, dots with the same dot number, characters with the same character number, and identical winds or dragons. Flowers match any flower tile, and seasons match any season tile.

You win by clearing all tiles. If no open matching pairs remain, the board is stuck. You can use shuffle for relaxed play or start a fresh board.
